Stained Glass Dragonfly
A few months ago, I stopped posting my weekly to-do lists here, and I noticed a decline in my productivity and an increase in forgotten items and tasks. So I'm going to get back to that, behind a cut for those who don't want to keep up with my quotidian activities..... I'm aware I won't get all this done this week, but it helps keep me on track.

Recovering from camping in high winds and rain. Recovering from sunburn. Basking in the joy of having reconnected with old friends and making new ones.

I see your lips moving but all I hear is blah, blah, blah... )

How is this possible?

Bugger All This
I was busy virtually all day, and yet I feel like I accomplished almost nothing. Despite all my best plans, I'm still going to end up packing tomorrow night when I get home from MVC -- at 10pm. I leave for my trip at 930 on Thursday morning, so I can't be up too late tomorrow night. Yet I have a gazillion things left to do, it seems, and almost no time to do them in.

Today I accomplished:

Snack run for trip
Responded to student emails
Responded to Discussion threads/facilitated discussion
Graded a portion of student papers and got feedback reports prepared for those students
Organized most of what I need to pack into a laundry basket so I can pack it tomorrow
Did a load of laundry
Put two loads of laundry away
Had a lovely candelit dinner on the porch with Bun
Fed the animals

Things I did not accomplish

Finish grading papers
Put grades for MVC students in Ecampus
Pack bag for weekend
Grill chicken for quick snacks this weekend (I need to keep a cooler in my tent with snackies for late night/.early morning munch)
Make playlists for workshops
Make notes for workshops
Sort images for Boss (though I can do some of this on the train in the AM)
Clean litterboxes
Clean kitchen

Some of these things, Bun will do tomorrow or while I am away. I have been trying to not leave her with a messy house and a huge task list while I am gone, so that she can also get some quality downtime and not spend the whole time either cleaning or fretting about a messy house. If only I didn't have to go to my jobs tomorrow! But The Boss is pissy about  me missing Friday to be out of town, so I need not only to go in tomorrow, but to be relatively brilliant and hardworking. At the same time, I know I can knock some of my UoP work out over my lunch break, and possibly in the late afternoon. If I ask Bun, she will grill the chicken for me and perhaps finish the laundry and do the litterboxes.

Tomorrow's going to be a long day and a late night. Fortunately, there is a much-needed break at the end of it, and I will appreciate it all the more for the craziness leading up to it. How is it that no matter how hard I try, I'm always rushing at the last minute the night before a trip?

Back off my hiatus, mostly

Trying to get myself organized. This next couple of weeks is the last big push on the academic job market, and I've got writing deadlines approaching.

Another fascinating edition of  "keeping myself sane." I think job app season is winding down, unless a bunch of last minute opportunities come through, so hopefully I will soon be a little less busy. Also hopefully one of the many jobs I've applied for will come through soon, which will alleviate all kinds of stress and worry and busy-ness. Until such time...

Ugh

I lost most of my day today. Bun spent about 8 hours in the ER yesterday with shortness of breath. All those hours and $480 later and they tell us the tests show nothing, it's probably just seasonal allergies gone a little wild. Then two dehydrated, exhausted, hungry, stressed girls get into the car to drive home and you can imagine how that ended up. Lots of tears and late night talking things over, and a sleepy pair of girls this morning. We got up and went and got some lunch then came home to nap. Bun's supposed to be taking it easy for a few days -- they took so much blood she doesn't have a choice, really -- but I have no excuse except physical and emotional exhaustion. So I'm already behind the 8 ball on everything I've got to accomplish, which is not really helping my stress levels. I'm going to put up my to-dos for the next week, and I'm going to organize them into categories to see if that makes me a bit saner.

This coming week is likely the last big push on the job search, or at least the academic portion of it, so that should at least keep me a bit saner in the coming month. The fact that March is likely to be a tight money month (with no UoP check) is something I'm not really thinking about right now.

Move it along, move it along, nothing to see here.... )

Now for something completely different

Ok, I've recovered (mostly) from my job-related flail of yesterday. Today is one of the two days I don't go to SMU, and with rehearsals and all over, I can actually use these days for what they are intended for -- writing, job applications, and UoP stuff. *makes little squirrel noises*

So here it is.... )

I will not go splodey...

Omg, massively busy day.

Show opens tonight. I need to be on campus by 5 to eat dinner (provided by WIN, yeah!), get dressed, and be ready to be on stage at 7.

I also need to pick up at least one silent auction donation, complete the silent auction donation I'm making of Dreaming Priestess product, print out certificates from another generous sponsor. Which means I need to be on campus at more like 430.

I also need to finish grading and getting grades up for UoP, and my online classroom is being bitchy.

I need to work out for 30 minutes, at least.

The dryer guy is coming to such the birds nest out of the vent today, and one of us should be here for that to wrangle the kittehs.

I also need to shower, figure out my hair for the show, go to the post office....

*KER-POW!!!!!!*

Be the squirrel, be the squirrel

Ok, so I don't know if I was just a total lazy-ass last week, if I overestimated how much I could get done in a seven day span, or what, but not nearly enough is crossed off last week's list. This week promises to be nutz, with the show going up Thursday and rehearsals every night starting Tuesday. I also teach Monday, and have my online teaching responsibilities to attend to. I will not freak out. I will make a nice, tidy list that will keep me sane for the next 7 to 10 days. Yes, I will. Yes, I will.

You know what to do.... )

To-Dos, Week of February 2

I actually got some forward momentum today, and I'm impressed with myself and how much I managed to do. I often take Brighid as my New Year, and I guess that some of the changes I've made since 1 Jan have finally taken hold. I still have a daunting pile of work to do this week, but it feels less overwhelming than past weeks.

I need a squirrel icon for these posts, since [info]shotfromthehip</lj> always encourages me to "be the squirrel." Anyone got one or more they are willing to share?

And with that, on to the list. You know the drill...feel free to skip...yaddayaddayadda...
